Guidelines for all genres of romance submissions

Our  novels provide readers with an emotional and satisfying reading experience. Our authors have freedom to create characters who bring a wider range of perspectives and life experiences to their stories. Characters and situations may be edgier and grittier than traditional Christian Fiction--more aligned with life in the real world. But your riveting romance stories will present wholesome values that are always written from a Christian worldview.
  • Riveting romances with wholesome values written from a Christian world-view (see Statement of Faith Below)
  • Stories that provide deeply satisfying, page-turning, reads.
  • Hero and heroine should meet early in book, preferably by end of chapter one.
  • Relationships should focus on emotional intimacy rather than sexual attraction
  • Conflict should be strong and believable
  •  The faith element is integral to the story and shows rather than tells
  • Didactic, preachy tone, should be avoided but each manuscript will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Some authors are excellent at making it work as part of the story.
  • Doctrinal language should be avoided, as our readers come from a variety of backgrounds and denominations (an over-simplified example of what to avoid would be a debate between characters on whether baptism candidates should be dunked or sprinkled, but this example works to carry over into a variety of topics).
  • Characters should grow and change for the better during the story. We are looking for well defined character arc's in the main characters
  • No drug or alcohol consumption, gambling, profanity, or pre-marital sex by Christian characters within the course of the story.
  • Male and female characters should be equal partners
  • Stories containing gender stereotypes and cliches (unless they are clearly shown as being unacceptable) will not be considered
  • No sex scenes or graphic violence
  • Stories can contain multiple points of view
  • Suggested word count of 60,000 - 80,000 words

Forever Love® Books Romantic Suspense Key Elements

Solid romantic suspense stories with romantic tension between the characters, our edge-of-the-seat, contemporary or historical romantic suspense tales of intrigue and romance, feature Christian characters facing challenges to their faith and to their lives. Your romantic suspense stories will keep your readers guessing and glued to their seats, as they read on and on to find out what happens, and  who done it! The hero and heroine are equal partners--no damsel in distress who needs a knight in shining armor to rescue her (at least not very often). They are relatable and courageous characters faced with dangerous situations who will triumph and find love.

  • The suspense element should be introduced in chapter one
  • Stories should be focused equally on gripping suspense along with a strong compelling romance
  • Heroes and heroines who work together to solve the mystery and overcome the shared danger
